Welcome to Lookers Rest Cavaliers
We have Roswell Eldridge to thank for reviving interest in Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. In 1926, while visiting England, Eldridge could not find the old-fashioned toy spaniel depicted in the paintings dating back to the 16th century. (Blenheim - The Marquess of Stafford and the Lady Evelyn Gower by Sir Edwin Lanseer, undated; and Tri - La Belle Strasbourgeoise by Nicholas de Largilliere, 1703). Eldridge offered a prize at the Crufts Dog Show to be awarded to the best dog and bitch resembling the old-fashioned type toy spaniel. And, as they say, the rest is history.
In my personal opinion, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are the perfect all-rounder dog. They are small enough to be your lap dog, energetic enough to be your exercise companion and are just the right size to accompany you on your holidays. However, I do not recommend them to families with children under three years of age, unless the children are supervised when they interact with the new addition. Cavaliers are so gentle, they don't know how to say “Stop, you are hurting me.”
Cavaliers have absolutely no road sense, so you must have a secure fence to keep them safe.
Cavaliers are companion dogs, not guard dogs, they will welcome everybody into your home.
Cavaliers are beautiful, gentle, loving dogs. Show them kindness and love and they will repay you ten-fold.
Every year, all of my adult dogs have their heart, eyes and patella's examined by a vet to ensure they are in peak condition prior to breeding.
I am a registered breeder with the Canine Control Council (Q) trading as Dogs Queensland and I have a Kennel Permit issued by the Local Government.
